The Solent LEP is the key interface and lead for economic development in the Solent. It is a partnership organisation between the business community, the Further Education and Higher Education sector, three unitary authorities, eight district councils and one county council, all of whom are actively working together to secure a more prosperous and sustainable future for the Solent area. The funding is to be used to support the employer to grow in the local area, Employers are eligible if they employ less than 250 people.
The vision is to create an environment that will bring about sustainable economic growth and private sector investment in the Solent. It will assist this globally competitive area reach its full potential, enabling existing businesses to grow, become more profitable and to be greener; enabling the creation of new businesses and attracting new businesses to the region.
The Solent LEP area is anchored around the Isle of Wight, the two cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, the M27 corridor and the Solent waterway. An organisational training needs analysis will be completed in line with business objectives: this will be an assessment of the skills profile of employees and how this relates to the business. Bespoke training is for eligible employees aged 18+ in line with business needs with a particular focus on higher level skills, including access to professional leadership and management training. There is support to help employees progress into further education or an apprenticeship.
